Manali is a high-altitude Himalayan vacation town in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It has a reputation as a backpacking and honeymoon location. Set on the Beas River, it serves as a gateway to Solang Valley skiing and Parvati Valley trekking. It also serves as a jumping off point for paragliding, rafting, and mountaineering in the Pir Panjal mountains, which include the 4,000-meter-high Rohtang Pass.
